ALL CITY COLLEGES EARN HIGHEST ACCREDITATION RATING

Chicago, IL (June 2001) – For the first time in 90 years, each of the seven City Colleges of Chicago earned 10-year accreditation status from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

"For each of our colleges to have receive the maximum 10 years of accreditation granted by NCA speaks volumes about the job our faculty and staff are doing to provide a quality educational experience and employment training to our students," said City Colleges Chairman James Tyree.

The accreditation level is the highest rating from the NCA and recognizes across-the-board relevance and quality of education offered at each of the City Colleges. The achievement gives the assurance of receiving an education from a nationally acknowledged institution.

"The achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication that is a hallmark of the City Colleges of Chicago. I’m especially proud of the faculty and staff at the colleges who, over the years, have devoted their energy and expertise to supporting our efforts to raise the bar," said Chancellor Wayne D. Watson. "It is our responsibility to continue producing students who can compete academically and who can make their mark in the workforce based on what they learned and the experiences they gained at the City Colleges of Chicago."
